Actroid F series
The Actroid-F projects are being developed by Osaka University and Kokoro Ltd. Its purpose is to achieve the most overall realistic look in both face and body with realistic minor movements. The original model is a copy of an unknown Japanese female in appearance and speech. It is able to hold simple conversations and emulates the movements of those surrounding it to appear interactive. Its future purpose is in hospitals and nursing homes keeping the patients or residents company. On the left is Actroid-F with the woman with whose likeness she was created.

The second Actroid-F was created in response to questions about the original being designed female. The new android is the exact same model as the original, but was made aesthetically male with cosmetics. It is able to interact not only with humans but the original model, retroactively referred to as Geminoid-F, as well. Both were updated with better recognition software, but are otherwise unchanged. The developers are using the opportunity of having the same model with different genders to overcome the uncanny valley by testing which version's presence is preferred by the public.
